Unit Orders
Rules of Engagement
Rules of Engagement or RoE refers to the directives issued by a competent military authority that dictate the circumstances and limitations under which forces will engage in combat with adversaries. These rules are designed to ensure that military actions are consistent with both strategic objectives and legal standards.
Cancel Order
This RoE means that if the conditions for an attack change, the attacking unit will cancel the attack.
Example Scenario:
Original Plan:
An armoured battalion is ordered to attack a mechanised company, which is the only enemy unit in the area.
Change in Situation:
Before the attack, an armoured brigade moves into the enemy area.
Cancel Order RoE:
Since the situation has changed (a bigger enemy force has appeared), the attack is cancelled.
